THE POET
F. Isabel Campoy is the author of over 100 children’s books in the areas of poetry, theatre, stories, biographies, and art. As a researcher she has published extensively, bringing to the curriculum an awareness of the richness of the Hispanic culture. She is an educator specialized in the area of literacy and home school interaction, topics on which she lecturers nationally. She is an internationally recognized scholar devoted to the study of language acquisition, a field in which she started publishing in l973 after obtaining her degree in English Philology from Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain, and doing post graduate work at Reading University in England and UCLA in the United States.
Her many accolades include ALA Notables, the San Francisco Library Award, the Reading the World Award from the University of San Francisco, the NABE Ramón Santiago Award, the Tomás Rivera Award, the International Latino Children’s Book Award, and nine Junior Library Guild selections. She is a member of the North American Academy of Spanish Language.

What a sweet and wonderful month of poetry this has been! Thank you, Renee, for this month of getting to know so many poets a little better, with access to an array of books to read, re-read, and share with young readers and listeners! The prompts have given me a focus every early morning when I write before work, and introduced me to untried poetic forms.My brain seems to love the surprise of prompts! If only April could go on and on….Many thanks to you for this lovely month of poetry!
There’s still one more to go, Carol! I hope to bring back posts like this throughout the year, so stay tuned. It’s been a joy to see your poems each day all month. Thank you so much for sticking with it all the way through. Brava!

Renee, thank you for this wonderful month of both celebrating writers along with giving all of us a chance to write to a specific challenge. I will try to come back to add to those I missed.
